Join us for a guided hike to the
OAKLAND STAMP MILL
Join us on Saturday, January 3rd to learn about Searchlight’s mining history during a guided hike to the Oakland Stamp Mill.
At 8:30am, we will meet at the Denny's parking lot (at 100 US Hwy 95). There are no restrooms at the trailhead, so make sure to use the facilities at Denny's. We will leave promptly at 9:00am. Make sure to use the facilities at Denny's, as there are no restrooms where we are going.
We will caravan about 2 miles east on Cottonwood Cove Road. About 100 yards past the 2 mile marker, we will turn left and park.
We will hike in about 1/2 mile to the Oakland Mining Group stamp mill, headframe, and water tanks, and explore some other nearby surprises, while we discuss the thousand year old history of mining in the Searchlight area.
Wear comfortable shoes, and dress appropriately for January weather (layers very helpful!).
Dogs are welcome on leash.
This event is free, but donations are appreciated and help support our work in Avi Kwa Ame National Monument. Please RSVP so we know how many people to expect.
