Avi Kwa Ame National Monument ~ Snow in the High Desert

MARCH 2026

From warm and wet to cold and snowy, we’ve been having all kinds of weather in Avi Kwa Ame National Monument! The February storms covered the mountains with a blanket of snow and created a winter wonderland, while the extra moisture brings us hope of abundant wildflowers later this spring. Our usual spring flowering season begins around the end of March, but with all of the early blooms we’ve been spotting this year, it’s not too soon to get out and see what you can find.
