JULY 3: THANK YOU FOR SPEAKING UP FOR AVI KWA AME!

It's been a roller coaster ride for public lands as the Congressional Tax bill added in, then took out, then added back, then took out again, a provision that would have mandated a sell-off of over 2 million acres of public lands. The latest version of the bill in the Senate does not include the sell-off, because public outcry across the country made the provision so unpopular. The public lands immediately adjacent to the town of Searchlight and Avi Kwa Ame National Monument were included in the map of lands available to be sold, so we are all very relieved to hear that this idea has been tabled. Our sincerest and most heartfelt thanks to all of you who participated in our StandFor PublicLands social media campaign, wrote postcards, and called your representatives to voice your support for the monument and our nation's public lands.
