Join us on Saturday, May 2nd for a talk with former superintendant of Lake Mead National Recreation Area and local trails expert Alan O'Neill as he discusses the wonders of the roads less traveled around Avi Kwa Ame National Monument.

Alan has spent the last several years exploring, mapping and documenting the more than 500 miles of off-highway designated routes in the area, and has written dozens of drive and hiking guides for Friends of Avi Kwa Ame.

He'll share his knowledge about some of these special places: historical sites, springs, scenic overlooks, and include tips for visiting these areas safely and respectfully. Come learn more about the backroads of our monument and plan your next outdoor adventures!

Photographs by Alan O’Neill on some of his many adventures throughout the backcountry roads of the monument.

We’ll start off with a tour of the historic ranch house at 9:30AM, followed by the talk with Alan at 10:30AM.
